Azure Tabular Models Development for Client's Worldwide Supply Chain Activities's Analysis

Goal

  • The client’s worldwide supply chain teams analyze separately their respective supply chain activities, with a manual, on-demand and ad hoc dashboards and Reports, which cost important lack of performance and waste of time for all supply chain teams.
  • They need a centralized analysis platform that allow analyzing securely the worldwide supply chain activities permanently with a complete and automatically up to date Data.

Result

  •  Delivery of a several centralized tabular data models deployed on azure analysis server, which automatically and securely load and process  the needed Data, and allow client’s worldwide supply chain teams to analyze the right and permanently updated data on Power BI Dashboards and Reports
  • Positive feedback and appreciations from all supply chain teams, of the value brought and the time saving with the done work.

Details

  • Continuous collaboration with the principal supply chain team (which consolidates the business needs of all the other worldwide supply chain teams) and the Data sources preparation technical team from the central IT of the worldwide corporation.
  • Starting the project from scratch to the delivery of several tabular models on a live production environment to the worldwide supply chain teams.
  • Collaboration with the principal Supply chain team to identify the needed information and Data format, to load and analyze on final power BI dashboards and reports.
  • Collaboration with the Data Preparation technical team to identify and validate the set of Data from Data sources to load on the different Azure tabular models.
  • Agile Project Management: continuous twice weekly meeting, continuous and incremental deliveries of developed tabular model and its validation with the supply chain team until its complete validation and its deployment on live Azure Analysis server.
  • Consecutive and incremental deliveries of updated versions of deployed tabular models (with newly added elements: tables, metrics calculations, data filtration, etc.) to maintain the deployed models live and operational for different business users.
  • Advanced data processing and treatment with Power Query and M language and Advanced KPIs and metrics calculations with DAX expressions.
  • Implementation of a Data Security Plan with advanced Data access management parameters and data filtering by DAX expressions on the metrics calculation, according to the different groups of users to attribute the right data to the right user.
  • Data insights on several Power BI dashboards and reports (Direct Query mode and Import mode).
